The inaugural of India’s first
double decker train is doubtful as technical problems seem to plague it.
The train was to start plying on 31st March from Chennai to Bangalore.
According to the schedule listed by Southern Railway the train will
leave Chennai at 7.25am and reach Bangalore at 1.30pm.
According
to some officials, the lack of staff is the reason behind the delay,
but others blame technical issues. ‘During the trial run, it came to our
notice that the double-decker rake is coming in contact with a platform
at the Jolarpet Junction railway station. Thereafter, the Southern
Railway and South Western Railways sent their reports to Railway Design
& Standards Organisation (RDSO)’, say officials.
